Indications include:
Use as replacement or supplemental therapy in patients with hypothyroidism of any cause, except for transient hypothyroidism occurring during the recovery phase of subacute thyroiditis.
Mechanism of Action1-2
T4 is the major active thyroid hormone. The body converts T4 to T3 for metabolic activity. The T4 and T3 provided in Thyroid NP mimic the actions of thyroid hormones normally produced in the human body. Thyroid hormones in the body provide growth and development of tissues. The actions of thyroid hormones are extensive, including influencing both catabolic and anabolic metabolism. Thyroid hormones influence the growth and maturation of tissues and increase energy expenditure. NP Thyroid® can be used in patients if they have impairment in T4-to-T3 conversion.
